Funerals for Ethiopia crash victims but little to bury

And the preliminary findings show similarities to the fatal Lion Air crash in Indonesia previous year.

The FAA referred questions on the reported inspector general probe to the Transportation Department.

Data from black boxes recovered from the Ethiopian Airlines and Lion Air Boeing 737 Max crashes that both occurred in the past year showed "clear similarities", according to Ethiopian transport minister Dagmawit Moge, who spoke to The Wall Street Journal.

Flight recorder data recovered from the wreckage of Boeing 737 MAX planes that crashed in Ethiopia and Indonesia shows "clear similarities", Addis Ababa said Sunday as the U.S. maker announced it was finalizing a software update for its under fire anti-stall system.

The justice department investigation will focus on the Lion Air accident and the role of the plane's automatic anti-stall safety system.

The second crash triggered a worldwide grounding of the 737 Max 8 aircraft.

A flight deck computer's response to an apparently faulty angle of attack sensor is at the heart of the ongoing probe into the Lion Air crash.

Boeing said Monday that the flight stabilization system under scrutiny following two deadly 737 MAX plane crashes, met all United States regulations.

Morgan Stanley estimates that the 737 Max model represents 70% of Boeing's production, while the Guardian said the company has received 5,011 orders for the aircraft since January.

Bangladesh players narrowly avoid mosque shooting in Christchurch
Much of the coaching staff were back in the team hotel while the head coach Steve Rhodes was at the ground. Dhaka complained that players were not provided with any security when they travelled to the mosque.

Boeing announced Monday that it's working with the FAA to finalize a software update related to the MCAS system to make the planes safer.

The suspicion is a new anti-stall feature installed to help pilots is malfunctioning and caused the crashes, but a final report establishing what caused both crashes will not be delivered until forensic investigators have finished examining the black box flight recorders of both jets.

Families in 35 nations were left bereaved when the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft plummeted from the sky just minutes into its flight to Nairobi last Sunday, killing all 157 passengers and crew on board.

One of the black boxes recovered at the scene of the Ethiopian plane crash.

Over the weekend, a Seattle Times report claimed that some analysis before the crash found that the system, called the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System, revealed crucial flaws.

Boeing and the FAA declined to comment on that. The French agency said on Twitter it had not listened to the audio files and the data had been transferred to Ethiopian investigators.

"What I can't forget is that she left an eight-month-old child and didn't come back", said Meselech Petros, whose sister Amma Tesfamariam was a flight attendant on the doomed aircraft.

Regulators across the world have banned the Boeing 737 Max from using airports or flying across their airspace due to concerns about passenger safety.

The 737 MAX was certified as a variant of the 737 Next Generation, the plane it replaced, despite major differences in the engine and the MCAS, according to documents available on the FAA's website.
