Ex-White House counsel calls Robert Mueller 'American hero'

Blackwater founder Erik Price hid information about 2016 Trump Tower meeting while under oath House Intel chair

The chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, congressman Jerrold Nadler of NY, said Monday his panel is beginning the probe into possible obstruction of justice, corruption and abuse of power.

At the White House, Trump was asked if he would cooperate with Nadler's probe.

"We have sent these document requests in order to begin building the public record", Nadler said in a statement accompanying the letters.

Think what you will about the reasons - calling an investigation a "witch hunt" is obstruction of justice? - but Nadler sounded less like a man weighing the evidence than a man who has has made up his mind.

Aware that the shift to divided government would usher in an onslaught of investigations, the White House began making defensive moves late a year ago.

Nadler went on to say that numerous president's public statements added up to obstruction, but that they needed more evidence to act on that accusation.

"Their intimidation and abuse of American citizens is shameful".

Separate congressional probes are already swirling around the president, including an effort announced Monday by three other House Democratic chairmen to obtain information about private conversations between him and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The House judiciary committee calls the probe a congressional obligation, and an investigation into Trump's clear law-breaking. They also asked for interviews with any interpreters who were involved in such conversations. Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation remains open, and though much recent speculation has suggested that Trump won't be criminally implicated in the probe's findings, there's really no way to be sure until Mueller has his final say. You obstruct, you try and impeach, you try and harass, you try and distract.

Billionaire progressive donor Tom Steyer, who spent $123 million of his own money to mobilize young Democratic voters in the 2018 cycle, has also spent millions on a highly publicized "Need to Impeach" campaign against Trump. "So I want a swift conclusion to this whole thing as soon as possible". No collusion. It's all a hoax.

Prince Harry did not join her, though People magazine reports that he found a way to stay in touch during the festivities. Half-sister Samantha reveals she felt snubbed by the comments and believes Meghan was "embarrassed" by their family.

Mueller is investigating Russian intervention in the 2016 election and whether Trump's campaign conspired with Russia. The Senate panel's parallel probe has been much more professionally handled, with sober bipartisan leadership, but its resources and powers are incomplete, so its 'no collusion' findings can not be considered conclusive. Almost all the current and former administration officials, friends and family listed on the request have hired private attorneys to navigate both the Mueller probe and now the oversight process - among them Hope Hicks, Reince Priebus, Steve Bannon, Kushner and Don McGahn.

The powerful judiciary committee yesterday requested information from 81 Trump-connected individuals and entities, including his sons and close advisers.

Cobb tirelessly defended the president, repeatedly stating that the president "is not considering or discussing the firing of Special Counsel Robert Mueller". Cobb says there's no link to Trump or the campaign in an indictment against Russian hackers and says there's "no reference to collusion" in a sentencing memo for former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

Many of Trump's top advisers in his first year in office were on the list, including Steve Bannon, longtime spokeswoman Hope Hicks, former Press Secretary Sean Spicer and former White House Counsel Don McGahn. They didn't do anything. they didn't give one letter.

Trump defied decades of precedent as a presidential candidate by refusing to release the tax documents and has continued to keep them under wraps as president, saying his returns were under audit by the Internal Revenue Service.

The letters demanded documents that could shed light on possible wrongdoing by the administration and Trump himself.

Among them were aides to President Trump and his campaign, members of his family, business associates and others.

"It's a disgrace to our country", he said of the document request.

Representatives for the White House and Justice Department said the document requests were being reviewed.
