South's military: North Korean soldier defects to South

North Korean Soldier Crosses Heavily Guarded Border and Defects to South Korea

The White House said in a statement on Saturday after Trump's meeting with the Chinese president, Xi Jinping, that they and Kim would strive "to see a nuclear free Korean Peninsula".

"Through the one connected railway, the South and the North will prosper together and the ground for peace on the Korean Peninsula will be consolidated". Fifty-six South Korean officials will participate in the surveys, 28 each for the inspections on the western and eastern sections, the ministry said.

A train carrying a team of South Korean officials that will inspect railway sections in the North with their North Korean counterparts passes a section of the Gyeongui Line at the demilitarized zone in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, Friday.

The defection came just over a year after another North Korean soldier dashed across the border in the truce village of Panmunjom under a hail of gunfire from his former comrades.

However, Trump made clear that he also wants to follow up on his historic June summit in Singapore as he tries to persuade the reclusive regime to give up its nuclear weapons. The train is running on a track that leads to Kaesong, a North Korean city near the border with the South, to start a joint survey with Pyongyang on North Korean railway systems.

"We're getting along very well".

He finished with 13 points off 4-of-8 shooting and turned the ball over eight times, including four times in the first quarter. On opening night on October 16, Boston defeated Philadelphia 105-87 behind 23 points and nine rebounds from Tatum.

Three unspecified locations are under consideration, the president said aboard Air Force One as he returned from a weekend trip to Buenos Aires to attend the G-20 summit, Reuters reported. He also said his administration is ready to lift the sanctions on North Korea, but asserted that Pyongyang has to be "responsive" to Washington.

For the first time in more than a decade, a train has travelled from South Korea across the heavily guarded border into North Korea.

Those events, combined with a recent North Korean threat to renew overt nuclear development should Washington continue opposing sanctions relief, suggested to many analysts that the countries are having problems seeing eye-to-eye, calling into question when a second summit might take place.

They have also begun work to reconnect a train line and fix another rail link across the border.

"We have a good relationship", he added, expressing the hope that, when circumstances permit, he will invite Kim to the United States.

Meanwhile, Minister of Unification Cho Myoung-gyon said the government will aim for a groundbreaking ceremony to connect the railways of the Koreas to take place within this year, as earlier agreed at the third inter-Korean summit in September.
