Meghan Markle's Speech In New Zealand Broke A Strict Royal Rule

Pregnant Meghan Markle made a rare fashion blunder and it is surprising

Meghan's speech was attended by New Zealand's prime minister Jacinda Ardern, who became only the second elected world leader in modern times to give birth while in office when she welcomed a baby girl earlier this year. Her efforts earned her spontaneous applause and whoops from the audience.

It upset her to see that an ad for dishwashing soap specifically targeted women, she said, and so she wrote a letter to the manufacturer, Procter & Gamble. "We want to be inclusive, but especially Meghan, because she's expecting, we don't want to put her at any risk".

On Twitter "Meghan" featured high on the list of trending topics - just below the local version of Married at First Sight.

Meghan spoke on feminism and women's suffrage in New Zealand on 125th anniversary of women achieving the right to vote in the country.

"Women's suffrage is about feminism, but feminism is about fairness", she said.

"We got asked and obviously didn't quite believe it was going to happen and now today's the day, super nervous".

She ended her speech with a phrase from Kate Sheppard, the most prominent member of the women's suffrage movement in New Zealand.

Their itinerary includes a bush walk in Abel Tasman national park, a beach BBQ and visits to Rotorua and Auckland.

A small number of protesters chanted "No more war" as the duke and duchess climbed the steps to the memorial which commemorates the 300,000 New Zealanders which served their country.

And now in a new book, Charles At Seventy by Robert Jobson, which celebrates Prince Charles's upcoming 70th birthday, it has been revealed that the Queen and Meghan's outing did not kick off to a good start.
