Trump turns tables on G7 allies with free trade `proclamation'

Donald Trump calls for end to Russian expulsion from G7 grouping

Just hours before attending the summit, Trump tweeted about rectifying "unfair Trade Deals with the G-7 countries".

"We need to stand with our democratic allies", Feinstein said.

American allies are fuming over new tariffs on steel and aluminum imported into the us, and over the president saying those tariffs will strengthen national security. Trump tweeted Saturday. He later doubled down by calling Trudeau "meek and mild" and "dishonest & weak".

Navarro's comments added to the White House's continued criticism of Trudeau, who said after Trump left the G7 summit that Canada would impose retaliatory measures to answer Trump's tariffs and warned that Canada would not be "pushed around".

"He did a great disservice to the whole (G-7)", White House Economic Advisor Larry Kudlow told CNN. "We're the closest partners in the world and you don't want to see a dispute over one particular issue poison everything".

The statement that Trump reneged on was also signed by the heads of government of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan, all of which have also been hit by the USA tariffs of 25 percent on imported steel and 10 percent on aluminum.

"The world as we know it, namely the USA -led rules-based multilateralism, is now in serious danger of unraveling, as illustrated at the G7 meeting", said Erik Nielsen, chief economist at Unicredit Bank.

Trump's supporters also criticized Trudeau.

G8 became G7 in 2014 when Russian Federation was excluded over the unlawful annexation of Crimea.

Rep. Eliot Engel, the Democratic ranking member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, said Trump's invitation to Russian Federation fits into a broader pattern of the president cozying up to President Vladimir Putin.

The Prime minister's spokesman tweeting that what Trudeau said wasn't anything he hadn't already said to Trump himself.

Trump says they will either have a better agreement on NAFTA or two deals involving separate trade deals with both Canada and Mexico.

When host Jake Tapper asked what's next for Trump's diplomacy, Kudlow said Trump's response was to set a picture of strength as a leader ahead of his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, which is slated to take place this Tuesday in Singapore.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, California Democrat, said it's one thing for Mr. Trump to get angry, but quite another to ditch the agreement.

"In a matter of seconds, you can destroy trust with 280 twitter characters. That there are no grounds whatsoever for bringing Russian Federation with its current behaviour back into the G7", said Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland.

The US president has steadfastly refused to acknowledge that Russian Federation had any substantive impact on his 2016 election, despite the verdict of his own spy agencies and a major FBI investigation that has looked into his campaign's ties with Russian Federation.
